How does the Starlink project contribute to space debris?

SpaceX's Starlink project has launched about 7,000 satellites into Earth's orbit to create a global internet network. This accounts for nearly 60% of all active satellites in orbit. With plans to deploy up to 42,000 satellites, Starlink has significantly increased orbital congestion, raising collision risks. Although equipped with collision-avoidance systems, the sheer volume of satellites makes perfect prevention unlikely. This congestion amplifies the space debris problem, potentially leading to cascading collisions and posing threats to other satellites and space operations.
